Update - 30th July 2021
I have almost completely filled in this book and am proud of the thoughts I have filled the pages with. It helped me with focussing on my goals, helped me to prioritise tasks and monitor my growth and development.
My special friend who gifted this to me very lovingly wrote inspirational and motivational quotes on each and every page, which were a delight to read and reflect on. I drew inspiration from them when I was working and even found myself quoting them to others.
Original Post:
Although the journal was blank the front cover had four simple words: Remember Why You Started.
This gift was given to me so I could remind myself of my goals, dreams and aspirations and fill it with reasons as to why I had a goal/dream in mind, reminders on my achievements and prompts to what people, tools and skills will assist me in reaching a new goal. Each page has a personalised, handwritten quote to help inspire me to write, study, learn and practice.
This blog is one of those tools - again at the suggestion of my aforementioned special friend - it will help me to improve my written communication skills, getting thoughts onto paper and ensuring that they make sense. This is preparation for a major task that I have ahead of me in a few months which is vital for the fruition of my biggest life goal.
I have been presented with many opportunities in this life, but none larger than the privilege of living in a country where I can be educated. This journal is a reminder of that and it is a reminder to continue learning, to challenge myself and to inspire me to write.
Just a few thoughts:
Never give up on your goals and dreams, even if it doesn't fall into place the first time around - this is my third time that I am chasing a big career and life goal - not because I failed the first two times, but because it wasn't right for me. It feels right to be chasing this goal now.
Always keep learning, keep reading, keep being curious and never stop asking questions: there is no such thing as a stupid question!
Surround yourself with people who nourish you, your skills, your capabilities and those who can teach you new skills, information and make you a better version of yourself.
The future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams ~ Earl Nightingale
