Harry Potter and The Chmaber of Secrets

I finished reading Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets in one sitting and I loved learning more about the mystical Wizarding World.
I find the Dursleys to be the most ridiculously hilarious characters of the book and laughed at them every time they are mentioned. I think people who live in fear and denial of truths are ultimately missing out on the beauty that the truth brings. The Dursley's are truly missing out on the beauty and magic that Harry Potter could bring to their lives.

I have heard many lovely things about Dobby from Harry Potter fanatics, and was very excited to meet him and learn his quirky ways. I felt so sad each time he punished himself and was slightly angry when he was torturing Potter, which made it kind of tough to like him but his heart was in the right place, so he is all good in my books.

I honestly was not a fan of Gilderoy Lockhart, he was so full of himself and I predicted that he didn't do half the things he claimed he did. I couldn't see much value he brought to the plot other than a bit of comedic relief from the darkness itself.

I was surprised to learn that even discrimination was alive and in abundance in the wizarding world.
Muggle-born, Squibs, Pure-bloods and Muggles; I was so intrigued to learn about the different types of wizards and non-wizards and why they had their classification. I was also so surprised to learn how wizards knew nothing or little about basic Muggle lifestyle such as the postal service and public transport.

I am really loving all the little details introduced about Dumbledore and Hagrid's past and enjoyed the addition of Fawkes and the intrigue and care he brought to the storyline.

I felt that this second book was more dark in terms of themes, and have been told it only gets darker. The novel started with Harry Potter feeling depressed and lonely, moves on to him dealing with discrimination and bullying, with sprinkles of romance and love, his learning of new spells and potions and of course, can't forget, the power of friendship.

I am keen to see what other adventures lie ahead for Harry Potter and his friends in the next book.
