And Then There Were None by Agatha Christie

My first Agatha Christie novel. I think I am still trying to comprehend how well it is written, how the author marvelously weaves mystery and suspense into her words and how I had never read an Agatha Christie novel before this.
A fast-paced novel where the reader is enticed to figure out who the murderer is before the book reveals it. An almost frightening plot that can be uncomfortable to some to read as it not only terrifies the characters in the novel but also the reader as it feels like a nightmare that you cannot wake from.

The plot follows ten unknowing characters who find themselves mysteriously invited to a house on an island. They try to seek out their host to understand why their presence was requested, one by one they start to lose their minds as one by one each turns up dead.

A classic 'whodunnit' published in 1939 which truly paved the way for crime fiction.

Completed: November 2019
